AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6, SECTION 6 -1
OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTS -
VILLE, TEXAS, BY CHANGING THE EDITION OF THE
SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE ADOPTED FOR USE
BY THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE TO THE 1973 EDITION
WITH 1975 AMENDMENTS, PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE
FOR ALL AMENDMENTS TO THE 1969 EDITION OF THE
SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE PASSED BY THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE SINCE FEBRUARY 23, 1971, AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, by ordinance dated February 23, 1971, the
City Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, adopted for use
by the City of Huntsville the Southern Standard Building Code,
1969 Edition, together with the appendices thereof, which Code
has been amended by the City Council from time to time in certain
particulars. The said Southern Standard Building Code, 1969
Edition, as published by the Southern Building Code Congress has
been updated and the current edition now in use is the 1973
edition with 1975 Amendments, and in the best interest of the
City of Huntsville, the City Council has determined that the
1973 Edition of the Southern Standard Building Code with 1975
Amendments should be used.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of
the City of Huntsville, Texas, that Chapter 6, Section 6 -1 of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Huntsville, Texas, be
amended as follows:
Section 6 -1 is amended to insert the following terminology
"Southern Standard Building Code, 1973 Edition, together with the
appendices thereof, and 1975 Amendments ", to be inserted in Section
6 -1 in lieu of the Southern Standard Building Code, 1969 Edition,
together with the appendices thereof.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that all amendments passed by the City
Council of the City of Huntsville to Chapter 6 of the Code of
Ordinces and relating to the Southern Standard Building Code
then effect in said City, which amendments have been passed since
February 23, 1971, are in all things continued in full force and
effect and where such amendments are in conflict with the Southern
Standard Building Code, 1973 Edition, with 1975 Amendments, the
present ordinances of the City of Huntsville shall prevail.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE SAID CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that this ordinance shall be valid from
and after its passage.
