ORDINANCE NO. 2011-03
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNICL OFTHE CITY OF HUNTSVWJ=, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO.
2010 -15, WHICH CREATED THE VETERANS AFFAIRS ADVISORY BOARD, BY REPLACING SECTION 1(a) WITH A
NEW SECTION 1(a) AND MAMNG OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted Ordinance No. 2010 -45 creating a Veterans Affairs
Advisory Board ( "Board ") to enhance Veteran Relations and make Huntsville truly a community where
veterans are welcomed;
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the number of members should be made an odd number to
promote efficiency of Board actions and this purpose can be accomplished by replacing Section 1(a) with
a new Section 1(a); and
WHEREAS, notice of the agenda for this meeting, was given in accordance with law by posting the same
at the place reserved and designated for notices of public meetings and public activities and prior to the
adoption of this ordinance.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1: The facts and matters set forth in the preamble of this Ordinance are found to be true and
correct and are hereby adopted, ratified, and confirmed. ,
SECTION 2: Ordinance No. 2010 -45 is amended by replacing Section 1(a) with a new Section 1(a) as
provided below:
"a) Creation, number of members. The committee provided for herein shall be
comprised of 15 members to be recommended by the Mayor and approved by City
Council. The name of the committee may be changed or amended by ordinance of the City
Council."
SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of Ordinances that are in conflict or inconsistent with the
provisions of this Ordinance shall be, and the same are hereby, repealed and all other ordinances of the
City not in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 4: Should any paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or section of this Ordinance be
adjudged or held to be unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, the same shall not affect the validity of this
Ordinance as a whole or any part or provision thereof, other than the part so declared to be invalid, illegal
or unconstitutional.
SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after the date of its passage in
accordance with Article 4.15 of the City Charter. The City Secretary shall attach this Ordinance to
Ordinance 2010 -45.
