Arrest in Far Hills area . City Connection
On the evening of February 1, 2016, • General City News
members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, • This Week in
Firearms, and Explosives, the Huntsville Huntsville
Police Department, the Walker County
Sheriff's Department, the Houston Police
Department, and the Montgomery County
Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in
the 400 block of Far Hills Drive as a result of
an ongoing investigation.
Officers received information that a subject
living at a residence on that street was
distributing methamphetamine and
marijuana. During their investigation, officers
believed the subject of the investigation -
Carl Fleming Jr., 52, was alleged to be in
possession of explosive devices as well as
narcotics. He was arrested during a traffic
stop on February 1, 2016, and charged with
Possession of a Prohibited Weapon,
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Delivery
of a Controlled Substance and Prohibited
Substance in a Correctional Facility. Officers
then obtained a search warrant for his
residence, at which time authorities
discovered and seized marijuana and
firearms as well as possible explosive
devices and suspected bomb making
materials.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia is a
misdemeanor C and carries a punishment of
a fine up to $500. Possession of a Prohibited
Weapon is a State Jail Felony and carries a
punishment of confinement in a state jail
from 180 days to two years and a possible
fine of up to $10,000. Prohibited Substance
in a Correctional Facility is a Felony of the
third degree and carries a punishment of
imprisonment in the Texas Department of
Criminal Justice from two years to ten years
and a possible fine of up to $10,000.
Delivery of a Controlled Substance is a
Felony of the first degree and carries a
punishment of imprisonment in the Texas
Department of Criminal Justice from five
years to 99 years, or life, and a possible fine
of up to $10,000.
Huntsville Police Chief Kevin Lunsford and
Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said they
are happy that their agencies were able to
work together in the successful investigation
into this incident.
"The continued cooperation of our agencies,
as well as with other neighboring agencies,
is paramount in keeping the citizens of our
city and county safe," Chief Lunsford and
Sheriff McRae said in a shared statement.
"We are pleased that we were able to make
the arrest in this investigation without anyone
being injured. Our officers seized devices
and materials that could possibly pose a
danger to our community. Without the hard
work and dedication of all of the officers and
agencies involved, this part of the
investigation might not have concluded as
safely as it did."
The Chief and the Sheriff also thanked the
community for its overwhelming support.
