RESO 2011-19 - Support HISDResolution No. 2011 -19
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE HUNTSVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT IN
ITS EFFORT TO ACHIEVE DISTRICT -WIDE ACCEPTABLE ACCOUNTABILITY LEVELS
BASED ON TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY STANDARDS
WHEREAS the Texas Education Agency accountability ratings are based on high school
completion rates, dropout rates, and passing rates on the state tests, and
WHEREAS increasing standards and the elimination of the Texas Projection Measure (TPM)
resulted in fewer schools and districts earning Acceptable and Exemplary accountability ratings
in 2011; and
WHEREAS the City of Huntsville supports all means available to facilitate all schools in Walker
County to reach Acceptable or higher accountability levels based on Texas Education Agency
requirements: and
WHEREAS the City Council supports the Huntsville Independent School District (HISD), like all
educational institutions in Walker County, and encourages all citizens and parents to become
involved in the continual improvement of local education.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Huntsville supports the Huntsville
Independent School District in its determination to help every student reach his or her full
educational potential and urges the public to exemplify its patronage in ways great and small
throughout the community.
