November Events at the Huntsville Public Library
Closures for the Holidays
The Huntsville Public Library will close on Friday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. for the Annual Staff
Charity Bowling Tournament, and will reopen at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14. The Library will
also be closed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 26, 27, and 28 for the Thanksgiving
holiday, and will reopen on Monday, November 30 at 10:00 a.m.
Mother Goose Lapsit
Mother Goose Lapsit is a new program at the Huntsville Public Library. Designed for parents and infants,
ages birth to 24 months, the Mother Goose Lapsit features songs, toys, and stories on Mondays at 10:30
a.m. Dates for this program in November are:

Drama Story Time
Drama Story Time is a program presented by the Sam Houston State University Department of Theater
and Musical Theater. The program will use pantomime, rhythm, tableaux, and movement to present
stories to elementary-aged students. Drama Story time is on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The
dates for this program in November are:

Lego Club
Lego Club is an elementary-aged Lego building program held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Huntsville Public Library supplies the Legos and encourages participants
to build themed creations each session. The dates for Lego Club in November are:

Healthy, Happy Holidays with Essential Oils
The Huntsville Public Library will host a "Healthy, Happy Holidays With Essential Oils" special event on
Monday, November 30 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room. Melissa
Gonzalez, EOS instructor, will demonstrate several “recipes” for attendees who will then be able to create
their individual essential oil beauty product, natural health remedy, or cleaning product. Essential Oils
have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices. Refreshments will
be served, and everyone who attends will have an opportunity to win a grand door prize. Registration is
required so be sure to reserve your spot soon.
Muralist Artist Richard Haas is coming to Huntsville
Save the date! The Huntsville Public Library and the Huntsville Arts Commission invite you to join them
on Thursday, November 19 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to meet muralist artist Richard Haas and view his
works in the Library’s Community Room. Haas, known for his architectural mural works, as well as his
use of the trompe l’oeil style, will be making his remarks at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Story Time
Story Time is every Wednesday and Friday at 10:45 a.m. at the Huntsville Public Library. Parents and
their children are invited to enjoy songs, stories, and crafts with a new theme each session. The dates for

Family Movie Night
Family Movie Night will be held on Friday, November 6. The doors to the Community Room will open at
5:00 p.m. with the movie beginning promptly at 5:20 p.m. Family Movie Night is sponsored by the Texas
Children’s Health Plan Program. Complimentary drinks and popcorn are served and all viewers are
encouraged to bring a pillow or blanket.
Wii Friday
Wii Friday is an exciting new program at the Huntsville Public Library. Elementary through high school-
age students can enjoy the library’s Wii system. Wii Friday will be held on Friday, November 20 from
4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Read with the Dogs
The Huntsville Public Library will continue our monthly Read with the Dogs program with help from
Huntsville Pets Helping People. Children are invited to read to trained therapy dogs in 15-minute
segments. Participants also receive a sticker with a picture of the dog they read to. You may sign up for a
session beforehand, but sign-up is not required. November’s Read with the Dogs will be on Monday,
November 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Teen Seminar – “Getting the Job!”
The Huntsville Public Library is offering a Teen seminar. “Getting the Job!” teaches teenagers the ins and
outs of hiring and is presented with help from Workforce Solutions Huntsville. Sign-up is required. The
seminar will be held on Wednesday November 18 at 4:30.
