A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, ENCOURAGING
VOTER SUPPORT OF AMENDMENT NUMBER 23 -
ADDITIONAL WATER DEVELOPMENT BONDS.
WHEREAS the 1987 Texas Legislature enacted several laws as part of the
"Build Texas" program; and
WHEREAS there is a severe shortage of operating revenue at the state and
local levels and a decreasing level of federal involvement in water
projects; and
WHEREAS amendment 23 to the Texas Constitution on the November 3 ballot
would permit the Texas Water Development Board to issue $400 million
in bonds to finance water supply projects, water quality projects,
and flood control projects; and
WHEREAS such bonds have assisted the City of Huntsville and other local
governments and saved the taxpayers moneys;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1: The City Council encourages all voters of the City to vote for
amendment number 23, the constitutional amendment to authorize the
issuance of an additional $400 million of Texas Water Development
Bonds for water supply, water quality, and flood control purposes,
on the November 3rd ballot.
Section 2: This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage by City
Council.
