A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, OUTLINING PARTICIPATION IN A GOLF
COURSE AT SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY
WHEREAS it is in the best interest of the City and the citizens it serves to support the
development activities of Sam Houston State University; and
WHEREAS the City is developing utility infrastructure improvements in the Robinson Creek
watershed west of IH 45 that will complement and coordinate with the development
of a golf course by the University to replace the public access course at the old
Country Campus site; and
WHEREAS the Texas Department of Transportation corridor study is expected to result in one
way feeder roads in the foreseeable future which will necessitate a network of
alternative local arterial transportation routes between SH 30 and FM 1374; and
WHEREAS the proposed golf course will serve the University population and our community
well due to its convenient location and further serve to enhance the public image of
Huntsville to the traveling public that pass on IH 45 daily.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, that:
SECTION 1: The City may provide assistance to Sam Houston State University in the
development of the golf course project in the following manner:
- Planning, survey, and design services of various infrastructure improvements
including water, sewer, access road, golf cart paths and water source development;
- Street access from existing or planned arterial routes;
-Water and Sewer Services, and the building housing the old College Farm Lift
Station;
subject to the negotiation of an interlocal contract regarding such services and
approval of the project by the Coordinating Board of the University Systems of
Texas.
