RESO 1996-21 - WCAD TaxRESOLUTION NO. 96 -21
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, ADOPTING A
DIFFERENT FISCAL YEAR FOR THE WALKER COUNTY APPRAISAL
DISTRICT; AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS AND FINDINGS RELATED
THERETO.
WHEREAS Texas Property Tax Code § 6.06(I) provides that the fiscal year of an appraisal district is the
calendar year unless the governing bodies of three- fourths of the taxing units entitled to vote
on the appointment of board members adopt resolutions proposing a different fiscal year and
file the resolution with the secretary of the board not more than 12 and not less than eight
months before the first day of the fiscal year proposed by the resolutions; and
WHEREAS the Texas Property Tax Code provides directions for chief appraiser to prepare a proposed
budget for an amended fiscal year; and
WHEREAS the Texas Property Tax Code provides that each taxing unit shall pay its allocation for the
amended budget necessary for the amended fiscal year; and
WHEREAS the Walker County Appraisal District and its Auditor, Ken Davis, recommend that the fiscal
year of the appraisal district be amended to be September 1, 1997 through August 31, 1998,
and each year thereafter from September 1 through August 31;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The fiscal year of the Walker County Appraisal district is amended to move from the
calendar year to September 1, 1997 through August 31, 1998, and each thereafter from
September 1 through August 31.
SECTION 2: This resolution shall become effective upon the adoption of the governing bodies of three -
fourths of the taxing units entitled to vote on the appointment of board members and the
filing of those resolutions with the secretary of the board before the first day of the January
1997.
