Gary Howze began working for the City of Huntsville on June 7, 1982
as a patrol officer with seven years of prior service; and
Howze initiated the crime prevention puppet program for elementary
schools and the firstNeighborhood Watch Program in Huntsville; and
WHEREAS for 26 years, Howze served in a supervisory capacity as a School
Resource Officer supervisor, a patrol supervisor, a Support Services
supervisor, a Criminal Investigations supervisor, a Commander of the
Central East Texas Narcotics Task Force and an Accreditation
Manager; and
WHEREAS during his tenure as commander of the regional narcotics task force,
Howze created a successful, cohesive unit composed of nine narcotic
officers from five different criminal justice agencies; and
WHEREAS throughout his 28 years with the Huntsville Police Department, Howze
has always been eager to attempt new, different ideas and projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITHEREBYPROCLAIM.ED, by the power vested in me as
the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas, that:
