A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, CREATING A HUNTSVILLE MAIN STREET
PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO ASSIST THE CITY IN
DEVELOPING A MAIN STREET PROGRAM .
WHEREAS The Main Street Program is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation
designed to help communities across the nation to revitalize their historic commercial
areas; and
WHEREAS The City of Huntsville has been named an official 2001 Texas Main Street City by
the Texas Historical Commission, and will be eligible to receive a wide range of
services from the Texas Main Street Program for a minimum of three years; and
WHEREAS The Texas Main Street Program requires that a Main Street City create an advisory
committee to assist in developing the City's Main Street Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: The Mayor and city staff shall appoint a Huntsville Main Street Program Advisory
Committee consisting of nine members to assist in developing the Huntsville Main
Street Program according to the four-point approach of the Main Street Program:
Design, Promotion, Economic Restructuring, and Organization.
SECTION 2: The members shall serve for a two-year period with overlapping terms; the first year,
members will draw for either one-year or two-year renewable terms. Following the
first year, Committee Members will be appointed for two-year renewable terms.
One member of the Committee shall be elected annually to serve as Chairperson.
SECTION 3: The Main Street Program Manager and any other appointed City staff shall serve as
ex-officio members of the Committee for the purpose of advancing the work of the
Main Street Program.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall take effect immediately.
