WHEREAS the Municipal Court of Huntsville is a time honored and vital part of local
government, and
WHEREAS more people, citizens and non - citizens alike, come in personal contact with municipal
courts than all other Texas courts combined, and the public impression of the entire
Texas judicial system is largely dependent upon the public's experience in municipal
court; and
WHEREAS Municipal Judges and court support personnel have pledged to be ever mindful of
their neutrality and impartiality, rendering equal service to all, and conform to the
standards set by the Canons of Judicial Conduct, and
WHEREAS Municipal Judges and Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of
justice through participation in judicial education programs, seminars, workshops and
the annual meetings of their state and local professional organizations; and
WHEREAS we recognize the accomplishments of the Texas Municipal Courts and salute their
critical role in preserving public safety, protecting the quality of life in Texas
communities, and deterring future criminal behavior.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me
as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
November 1 - 5, 2010
be declared: "Municipal Court Appreciation Week"
in the City of Huntsville, and call upon our citizens to join with the City Council in
recognizing the vital service Municipal Judges and court support personnel perform,
and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent.
