A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
GRANTING A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION EXEMPTION PURSUANT TO HOUSE
BILL 1689 ADOPTED BY THE 77' TEXAS LEGISLATURE; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to HB 1689 passed by the 77th Texas Legislature, certain charitable
organizations that were ineligible for tax exemptions can now become eligible for an exemption; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to HB 1689, an organization must first obtain a "Use Determination
Letter" from the Comptroller of Public Accounts verifying that the organization is eligible for
property tax relief, and then, apply for an exemption from each local taxing authority; and
WHEREAS, if a local taxing entity decides to grant a charitable organization exemption to
one qualified applicant it must make the exemption available to future applicants as long as all of
the requirements are met; and
WHEREAS, Forrest Masonic Lodge No. 19, A. F. & A. M. of Huntsville, Texas, has met the
requirements of HB 1689 with the Comptroller of Public Accounts and has requested that the City
of Huntsville grant it a charitable tax exemption; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: The City of Huntsville authorizes the granting of a Charitable Organization
Exemption as revised by the 77th Texas Legislature, House Bill 1689, to Forrest Masonic Lodge No.
119, A. F. & A. M. of Huntsville, Texas.
SECTION 2: This Resolution shall be effective from and after the date of its passage.
