RESO 2005-15 - Amend Art Commission's voting membershipRESOLUTION NO. 2005-15
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
AMENDING THE HUNTSVILLE ARTS COMMISSION'S VOTING MEMBERSHIP; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Resolution 78 -19 passed on September 26, 1978 by unanimous vote of the Huntsville
Council created the Huntsville Arts Commission; and;
WHEREAS, the Huntsville Arts Commission was composed of three members, appointed by the Mayor
with the approval of the City Council for the purpose of hearing ideas for programming in the arts; for
determining the annual budget for the arts subject to approval of the City Council; and for providing
leadership to private organizations in the community for the promotion of the arts in Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, the Huntsville Arts Commission was also composed of eight advisory members, whose
responsibility was to submit ideas to the three member commission for consideration;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, THAT:

The City Council of the City of Huntsville desires to change the composition of the
Huntsville Arts Commission to a nine member commission with all the members with
voting rights.
Initially, three members' terms shall expire in 2006, three members' terms shall expire in
2007, and three members' expiring in 2008, as determined by the Chairperson of the
Commission and provided that no incumbent member's term be shortened. Thereafter,
all terms shall be for two years.
Section 2. This resolution shall become effective January 1, 2006.
