AN ORDINANCE OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, ESTABLISHING A TWO -HOUR PARKING ZONE IN CERTAIN
DOWNTOWN AREAS; PROHIBITING PARKING FOR MORE THAN TWO
HOURS IN ANY PLACE IN SAID ZONE; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF
UP TO $200.00 FOR VIOLATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUB-
LICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS on February 3, 1981, City Council adopted an ordinance that required
the Police Chief to bag all parking meters and enforce a two -hour park-
ing restriction for the formerly metered areas; and
WHEREAS the two -hour parking restriction has proven beneficial to the busi-
nesses and citizens of Huntsville;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that:
Section 1: The following described curb zones and areas are hereby designated
as a two -hour parking zone:
(a) Both sides of Sam Houston Avenue beginning 200 feet North of
llth Street (Highway 30) and extending to the intersection of
13th Street except for 2 spaces between 11th and 12th Streets
reserved for the Highway Patrol.
(b) The east side of Sam Houston Avenue beginning at the intersection
of 13th Street and extending South 200 feet.
(c) Both sides of University Avenue from the intersection with llth
Street South to approximately 200 feet south of the intersection
with 13th Street.
(d) Bbth'.s t&es of University Avenue from the intersection of llth
Street North 200 feet.
(e) Both sides of llth Street between Sam Houston Avenue and Univer-
sity Avenue except for 3 designated parking spaces for the
Sheriff's Department.
(f) The north side of llth Street from University Avenue to Avenue J.
(g) The North side of 12th Street from 200 feet West of Sam Houston
Avenue to Avenue J.
(h) The South side of 12th Street from 100 feet West of Sam Houston
Avenue to Avenue J.
(i) The North side of 13th Street from 100 feet West of Sam Houston
Avenue to University Avenue.
(j) The South side of 13th Street between Sam Houston Avenue and
University Avenue.
(k) The Public Parking lot at the corner of Sam Houston Avenue and
llth Street.
Section 2: The City Manager is authorized and directed to post proper
traffic control signs along the above described curb zones and areas
to inform the public of the two -hour parking limitation and the pen-
alties for violation.

Section 3: A person commits an offense if he stops, stands or parks a motor
vehicle in any parking space in the designated two -hour parking curb
zone for more than two hours.
Section 4: Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be
punished by a fine of not more than two hundred ($200.00) dollars and
each violation shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 5: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the
terms of this ordinance are repealed, but only to the extent of such
inconsistency.
Section 6: The City Secretary is directed to give notice hereof by causing
the caption of this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper
of the City at least once within twenty (20) days after the passage
of this ordinance. This ordinance shall take effect from and after
ten (10) days of its publication.
