ORDINANCE NO. 83 -51
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS
ESTABLISHING UNIFORM WATER AND SEWER TAPPING FEES; PROHIBITING
TAPPING OF CITY UTILITY LINES WITHOUT A PERMIT AND PROVIDING FOR
THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That Chapter 17, Water and Sewers, of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by the repeal of
Section 17 -4, Water Tapping Charge, as presently constituted, and by
the adoption of a new Section 17 -4 that shall read as follows:
Section 17 -4. Water tapping charge.
(a) The following charge shall be assessed and collected by the
water billing department for water taps:
(1) 3/4 -inch water tap $175.00
(2) 1 -inch water. tap $280.00
(b) All other water taps and special water connections shall be
made at actual cost as determined by the Director of Public
Utilities or his designee.
Section 2: That Chapter 17, Water and Sewers, of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by the adoption of a
new Section 17 -25 that shall read as follows:
Section 17 -25. Sewer tapping charge.
(a) Except as herein provided, the following charge shall be
assessed and collected by the water billing department for
sewer taps or services:
(1) minimum fee for the location of
sewer stub or any connection to
sewer system is $ 50.00
(2) 4 -inch sewer tap $185.00
(3) 6 -inch sewer tap $360.00
(b) Any tap requiring a bore or tunnel under a state or federal
highway shall be made at cost, except that the City will
share 1/2 of the cost of up to 300 feet of the line
including the bore or tunnels.
(c) All other sewer taps and special sewer connections shall be
made at actual cost as determined by the Director of Public
Utilities or his designee.

Section 3: This ordinance shall be presented for review to Council
annually in budget sessions.
Section 4: This ordinance shall take effect immediately after its adoption
by City Council.
