AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE LEVEL OF DISINFECTANT OF SWIMMING
POOLS; AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, that
Section 1: Chapter 6, Buildings and Building Regulations, of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by the
repeal of subsection 6- 2(D)(10)(a) as it presently exists and by the
adoption of new subsection 6- 2(D)(10)(a) that shall read as follows:
(10) Section 316. Add Section 316 which shall read as follows:
316 - Sanitary and Safety Conditions.
(a) Any person owning or maintaining any swimming pool
shall maintain such pool in a sanitary condition. The bacterial
content of the water in any swimming pool shall not be allowed to
exceed the safe limits as prescribed by established standards of
the Texas Department of Health. A minimum free residual chlorine
of 1.0 part per million units of water in every swimming pool
other than a spa and a minimum free residual chlorine of 2.0
parts per million in every spa or any other method of
disinfectant approved by the Texas Department of Health shall be
maintained in every swimming pool throughout the period of their
use.
Section 2: This ordinance shall take effect and be in effect from and
after its passage, and it is so ordained.
