AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 27, TAXATION, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, BY
EXEMPTING FEDERAL AGENCIES AND FEDERAL EMPLOYEES
TRAVELING ON OFFICIAL BUSINESS FROM THE MUNICIPAL HOTEL
TAX; AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS AND FINDINGS RELATED
THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION l: Chapter 27, Taxation, Subsection 27.02.01(D) is hereby amended to read:
D. Exceptions.
1. This article does not impose a tax on a person who has the right to use or possess
a room in a hotel for at least 30 consecutive days, so long as there is no interruption of payment
for the period.
2. The United States Government and its employees, including military personnel,
traveling on official business are exempt from the municipal hotel occupancy tax regardless of
the method ofpayment to the hotel.
SECTION 2: This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
