"'HEREAS, a petition has been filed with the City See-
retary of the City of Huntsville, Texas petitioning said City
to order an election to be held within the territory c- escribed
in said petition, and hereinafter described, for the purpose of
voting upon the question of whether such territory shall become
a part of such'City, which said petition consists of twenty (20)
copies thereof, numbered 1 to 20 inclusive, contains a metes and
bounds description of the territory, which is not more t',an one
mile in width, and is signed by more than one hundred (100) cyual-
ified electors residing in such territory, and contains the other
provisions and recuirements of SEnate Bill ho. 324, Chapter 187,
of the Acts of the Fifty First Legislature of tr -.e State of Tex-
as, known anC designated as Article 974 -1 of the Revised Civil
Statutes of 19?50
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HTNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
That an election be held within said territory on the
23rd day of August, 1949, at which election the following propo-
siticn shall be sub - itted to tree cualified electors residing with-
in and entitled to vote at said election, to -grit:

Huntsville. Texas. Such territory is described in said peti-
tion and herenow described es follo-,-rs:
BEGINNING at a point 700 feet North and 2640 feet East
of the Northeast corner of the corporate limits of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, stake for corner;
THENCE 11 . est at 2640 feet pass a point 700 feet North
of said Fortheast corner, et 7020 feet pass a point 700 feet
':orth of the upper T`orthwest corner of the corporate limits of
said City and at 10,920 feet stake for corner;

THENCE South at 700 feet pass a point 3000 feet '.'est
of said upper TTorthwest corner of the corporate limits, at 9272
feet pass a point 3000 feet Test of the ;= .outhwest corner of said
corporate limits, and at 117106 feet a stake for corner in the
divisional Line between the P. Gray League, Abstract No. 24, and
the T ewis Cox ?,eague, Abstract No. 13;
THENCE Fast with said divisional line 3000 feet to a
stake for corner at a point 1834 feet South of the Soutrwest
corner of the corporate limits of said City, and 88 feet pest
of th -e Northeast corner of said Lewis Cox League;
THETTCE South 2542 feet to stake for corner;
THENCE East at X280 feet pass a' point 5280 feet South
of the Eastern Southeast corner of the corporate limits of said
City and at 7920 feet a stake for corner;
THENCE Nortn about 4436 feet a stake for corner in the
divisional line between the P. Gray League, Abstract No. 24, and
the E. Davids Survey, Abstract No. 15 7;
THENCE Vest with said divisional 1_irie at 165 feet pass
the original ;southeast corner of the Texas Prison System Ceme-
tery any' at 1044 feet the Southwest corner of said Prison Ceme-
tery, as relocated and presently fenced, stake for corner;
THENCE North at about 844 feet pass a point 1596 feet
East of the Southeast corner of the corporate limits of said
City, at 1031 feet pass the :worth,. ^lest corner of said Prison Ceme-
tery, as relocated and presently fenced, at 2136 feet cross the
Huntsville :3ranch of the 1-issouri Pacific Railroad and at 2990
feet stake for corner at a point 1596 feet East of the East cor-
porate limits of said City;
THENCE East 1,044 feet stake for corner at a point 2640
feet East of tte East corporate limits of said City;
THET'CE North parallel with end 2640 feet from the Last
corporate limits about 6222 feet to the place of beginning:; SAVE
AYD EXCEPT from the area so enclosed all that portion of said area
now contained within the corporate limits of the City of Hunts-
ville, Texas.
All voters favoring the proposition to become a part
of said City shall have �:vritten or printed on their ballots the
words, "FOR BECOTJ1I1IG A Pt, T OTC, THE CITY OF HU_TSVILLE, TEXAS,"
and those opposed thereto shall have ,,�ritten or printed on their
ballots the words, "AGAINST BECOMING A PART OF TEL CITY OF HUNTS -
VILLE, TEXAS."

places. and conducted by the follo,.vinE officers and judges: (1)
At Bryan Standley's Store, I.Vith Harvard Bailes as Judge, and
'Irs. Rayford I:Ioore and Fran'- ",Ioore as Clerks. (2) At Lilco's
Station, with Robert Smither as Judge, and Charlie Thompson and
",Frs. Lee Farris as Clerks. (3) at J. A. Beathard's `.`'ashateria,
with Bob Rikard as Judge, and "Irs. Sue Dlalock and Lars. Inez
Schultz as Clerks.
Said election shall be held under'the Provisions of
Title 22 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas of
1925, and Amendments thereto, and the Constitution and Laws of
the State of Texas, pertaining to and prescribing the formfbr
general city elections, and only qualified electors residing in
said territory shall be allowed to vote at said election. The
manner of holding said election shall be governed by the General
Laws of the State of Texas regulating elections.
Ten (10) days notice of said election shall be given
by posting a copy of this ordinance certified by the City Secre-
tary in three (3) public places in said territory, and by pub-
lishing the same for one ti -r.e in The Huntsville Item, a news-
paper published in said City.
"Phis ordinance shall ta'�e effect upon its adoption by
the City Council and upon its approval by the 'ayor of said City
of Huntsville.
The above and foregoing ordinance was adopted by unani-
mous vote of the Council and approved by the "`ayor in open Coun-
cil this the 9th day of August, 1949.
