AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, RENAMING AND
DESIGNATING WEST HILLS DRIVE BETWEEN STATE HIGHWAY 30 AND
COMMERCE PLAZA AS VETERANS MEMORIAL PARKWAY; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, veterans should be recognized for all the sacrifices made for our collective
freedoms; and
WHEREAS, the City of Huntsville wishes to establish a memorial to veterans in the way of
a street name; and
WHEREAS, H.E.A.R.T.S. has established a museum honoring veterans and particularly,
Walker County veterans at the West Hills Mall; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to rename West Hills Drive in honor of Walker County and all
United States veterans because of the close proximity of the museum and the desire to establish an
outside static display on the mall grounds; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: The street known as West Hills Drive between State Highway 30 and
Commerce Plaza be renamed, designated and called "Veterans Memorial Parkway" and the City
Manager is hereby directed to erect or cause to be erected appropriate street signs to reflect such
name change.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall become effective from and after the date of its passage.
