AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE BY AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 2,
VACATION LEAVE (ANNUAL LEAVE) TO INCREASE VACATION
LEASE FOR MEMBERS OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS;
AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS, § 142.0013 entitles a member of a police and fire department in a municipality
with a population of more than 30,000 to receive a minimum of 15 vacation days each year with pay;
and
WHEREAS, the population of the City of Huntsville, Texas, according to the 2000 Census
has exceeded the 30,000 requirement of § 142.0013; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS,
that:
SECTION 1: Chapter 9, Section 2, Vacation Leave (Annual Leave), of the Personnel Rules of the
City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby amended by amending the first phrase prior to
the chart and adding a second sentence after the chart to read as follows:
Section 2. Vacation Leave (Annual Leave).
Each regular full -time employee, except a member of the Police Department or Fire Department as
those terms are defined in § 142.010 of the Texas Local Government Code, will earn vacation leave
as follows:

A regularly employed member of the Police Department or Fire Department as those terms are
defined in § 142.010 of the Texas Local Government Code shall be entitled to 15 vacation days each
year with pay after completing one year of service until he /she has completed 15 years of service.
After 15 years of service, each regularly employed member of the Police Department or Fire
Department shall receive the same number of vacation days per year as other regular full -time
employees in accordance with the chart above.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
