VENDORS OF MERCHANDISE , WITHOUT INVITATION OF OvvNERS OR OCCUPANTS OF
SUCH PRIVATE RESIDENCE FOR PURPOSE OF SOLICITING ORDERS FOR THE SALE
OF GOODS, TARES AND MERCHANDISE, OR 2OR PURPOSE OZ DISPOSING OF AND /OR
PEDDLING OR WKING 12HE SAME , AND /OR FOR THE PUxiPOSE OF FAKING
PHOTOGRAPHS AND /OR TAKING ORDERS THEREFOR, TO BE A NUISANCE AND
FIXING A PENALTY THEREFOR.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C OUI4CIL OF Ta CITY OF HWTSV ILLE , TEXAS:
SE_„_ CTION 1. That the practice of going in andupon private
residences in the C`zty of Huntsville, Texas, by solicitors
hawkers, itinerant merchants, itinerant photographers and transients,
vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited so to do
by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said private residence,
for the purpose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and
merchandse, and/or for the purpose of disposing of and /or peddling
of hawking the same, and /or for the purpose of making photographs
and /or taking orders for photographs, and /or for the purpose of
collecting and taking up clothing to be laundered, cleaned or pressed,
is hereby declared to be a nuisance and punishable as such nuisance
as a misdemeanor.
Provided that this ordinance shall not be construed to
affect or prohibit the solicitation of orders for, and the sale and
delivery of, agricultural products at private residences, where such
agricultural products shall have been grown or produced in Walker
County or any County adjoining same.
SECTION 2, The City Marshal and p1lice force of the
City of Huntsv�g, Texas, are hereby required and directed to
suppress the same and to abate any such nuisance as is described in
the first section of this ordinance.
SECTION 3. Any person convicted of perpetrating a
nuisance as desert d and prohibited in Section 1 of this ordinance,
upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in a sum not less than 410.00
nor more than 4200.00.
SECTION 4. In the event anything in this ordinance is
judicially ec termine to be unconstitutional, all other parts of this
ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
