AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES OF THE
CITY OF HUNTSVILLE BY AMENDING CHAPTER 9, SECTION 1,
HOLIDAYS; AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE,
TEXAS, that:
SECTION 1: Chapter 9, Section 1, Holidays, of the Personnel Rules of the City of Huntsville,
Texas, is hereby amended to read:
Section 1. Holidays.
The City will normally observe the following eleven (11) or twelve (12) days, as appropriate
during a particular year, as paid holidays for all employees:
New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Good Friday, Cinco de Mayo (May Yh), Memorial
Day, Juneteenth (June 19th), Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (last Thursday and
Friday in November), Christmas (December 25 and an additional Christmas holiday that City
Council designates). If either Cinco de Mayo or Juneteenth falls on a Saturday or Sunday in a
given year, the holiday will not be observed.
e. Except for the Cinco de Mayo holiday or Juneteenth holiday, if a holiday falls on
Saturday, the City will observe the preceding Friday, and if a holiday falls on a Sunday
in a given year, the City will observe the following Monday.
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately.
