AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUITTSVILLE, TEXAS, DETERMINING THE NECESSITY AND
ADVISABILITY OF THE PURCHASE OR THE PURCHASE AND
CONSTRUCTION OF A FIRE STATION AND MUNICIPAL
BUILDING FOR THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, UM
TO PROVIDE FOR THE PAr,,UNT ")F THE COST OF SUCH
PURCHASE OR PURCHASE AND CONSTRUCTION BY THE IS-
SUR TCE_QE/ NON - NEGOTIABLE WARRANTS AND THE LEVY

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, IN
COUNCIL ASSEMBLED:
THLkT, it appearing to the City Council of the City of
Huntsville, Texas, that it is necessary and advisable that there be
purchased or purchased and constructed a suitable building for the
use of the City of Huntsville as a fire station and a municipal
building:
IT IS THE 21F ORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF Tom+; CITY OF HUNT SV ILLE ,
AS FOLLOWS:
I - -That the Hon.Sam McKinney, Mayor of the City of Huntsville,
Texas, shall be sand is hereby authorized and empowered to purchase a
suitable lot or parcel of land, within the corporate limits of the
City of Huntsville, Texas, for the use of said City in the construction
of a building, to be known as a fire station and municipal building,
for said City of Huntsville, Texas; and said Mayor is further authorized
and empowered to procure proper deed of conveyance covering such
loc=ation, when found.
II - -That the said Hon.Sam McKinney, ha.yor of Huntsville,
Texas, is further authorized to procure from some competent architect
suitable plans and specifications for the construction of a building
to be used by said City as a fire station and municipal building, and,
when such plans and specifications have been procured, the same shall
be submitted to the City Council, for its approval, and if and when
approved, bids for the construction of such fire station and municipal
building shall be advertised for by the !,Tayor, in accordance with
such plans and specifications.
III - -That a proper and suitable contract be entered into
by and between the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the lowest and
best bidder, for the construction of such fire station and municipal
building, in accordance with the plans and specifications so to be
adopted and the advertisement, as aforesaid, the contractor to be
required to give suitable bond, as required by law, in a sum not
less than Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00), with some solvent
Surety Company as surety thereon, to be approved by the r.ayor or
the City Council of said City of Huntsville, Texas.
IV.- -That, in order to pay and provide for the payment
of the cost of the purchase or purchase and construction of such
fire station and municipal building, as soon as the contract can
be let and the estimated cost of such building determined 'non-
negotiable warrants of the City of Huntsville, Texas, in the amount
necessary therefor, shall be issued under and by virtue of proper
Ordinance and other proceedings, providing for same, to be payable
serially, over a term of years, not to exceed thirty (30) years, after
the date thereof, and the tax, at the necessary and proper rate,
shall-be levied for the current year and every year thereafter,so
:long as said warrants, or any of the:, are outstanding, sufficient to

pay the annual interest thereon, and to pay off said warrants, as
same mature.
V. - -In the meantime, the said City of Huntsville, Texas,
shall lend its credit, as may be necessary, for the purchase or the
purchase and construction of said fire station and municipal building,
not to exceed the total actual cost of said fire station and municipal
building, which said cost, when determined, shall be merged into and
evidenced-.by a se r_iees off non - negotiable warrants, to be issued in
accordance with this Ordinance and the further proceedings by the
City Council, as is provided by law.
The above and foregoing ordinance was submitted to the
Committee on Ordinances, at a regular meeting of the City Council
of said City of Huntsville, Texas, and by said Committee referred
back to the Council, with recommendation that the said be adopted,
and the foregoing Ordinance was duly adopted and approved in open
Council, as of the 3rd day of Dece ' er, 1928.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that sealed bids will be received
at the office of the City Secretary of the City of Huntsville, Texas,
s
until the �
day of March, 1929, at o'clock, /' M. , for
furnishing the labor and materials necessary for the erection and
completion of a two story brick fire station and municipal building
for the City of Huntsville, Texas, according to plans and specifi-
cations adopted by the City Council of the-City of Huntsville,Texas,
at an adjourned meeting held on the 19th day of February, 1929.
Plans and specifications now on file with the City
Secretary of said City, at her office in Huntsville, Texas, may
be inspected by prospective bidders.
A certified check in the sum of Five Hundred Dollars
($500.00) shall accompany each bid, to guarantee the execution of
a contract and bond on the part of the successful bidder to whom
the contract may be awarded.
The right is reserved to reject any or all bids
submitted.
