Tuesday, May 8 City Tourism Tour 2 PM – 4 PM – hosted by Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center
(Receive 10% off in the gift shop)
Tour to begin at the Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center where you will view a video from the Artist David Adickes’
perspective. Then, board the van for a guided tour of our great city as Jamie Matthews shares the history and
stories of Sam Houston and Huntsville. See firsthand what our visitors experience when they tour our city. Event

Wednesday, May 9 Chamber of Commerce Tourism Roundtable 8:30 AM – 10 AM
Join all the partners of Tourism as they discuss upcoming events and information on various venues within our
community. Roundtable meetings are always open to the public; however, please RSVP at 936-295-8113.
Cultural District Tour 11 AM - 1 PM hosted by The Wynne Home
The Wynne Home Arts Center will highlight major components of the Cultural District to include the Sam Houston
Memorial Museum, the James and Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center, Old Town Theater, Oakwood Cemetery
and many others! This guided tour is free of charge and last approximately one and a half hours. Lunch will be
provided following the eight-stop tour of the district.
Thursday, May 10 Historic Home Tour 1:30 PM – 4 PM hosted by the Sam Houston Statue &
Visitor Center. (Receive 10% off in the gift shop)
Join Jamie Matthews for a tour of four of Huntsville’s Historic Homes: The Wynne Home Art Center, The Joshua
Houston Jr. Home, The Gibbs Powell Home and The Whistler Bed & Breakfast Inn. Learn their unique history and

Friday, May 11 Meet the Artist David Adickes, 9 AM – 11 AM
Join David Adickes, the creator of Big Sam and artist as he showcases his upcoming art gallery within the old
Huntsville High School on University Ave. This is a come and go event with a special gift for the first fifty guests.
Come and learn from one of Huntsville’s greatest. Light refreshments will be available.
Downtown Walking Tour @ 2 PM –
May is Preservation Month, and to celebrate, the Main Street Program will offer a free guided tour. Interested
citizens can put on their walking shoes and meet at the Gazebo on the courthouse lawn for a historical tour that
will last 30 minutes - 1 hour. Tours will end at the Gibbs-Powell House on 11th Street where there will be an
