30 - 40th Anniv LibraryPROCLAMATION 2007 –30 WHEREAS On Monday, September 25, 1967, after two years of hard work and determination by the Friends of a Huntsville Public Library and the Huntsville City Council, the library opened its doors to the public, and; WHEREAS For the past forty years, Huntsville Public Library has circulated more than two million items and has had more than one hundred thousand people in attendance at its programs and in doing so has enriched the lives of the citizens of Huntsville and Walker County, and; WHEREAS The Founders, Benefactors, Volunteers and Staff of the Huntsville Public Library have given generously of their time, energies and talents for these past forty years, and; WHEREAS During the period October 13 through October 17, 2007 the Huntsville Public Library celebrates its Fortieth Anniversary with programs and receptions, and; WHEREAS On this Fortieth Anniversary of the Huntsville Public Library the patrons of the Huntsville Public Library are “celebrating the past and looking to the future”; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville that: October 16, 2007 be proclaimed “Huntsville Public Library Day” in the City of Huntsville.
