PROCLAMATION NO. 2007-19
WHEREAS public services in Huntsville are an integral part of our citizen’s everyday life; and
WHEREAS the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of systems and programs such as water, wastewater, streets, parks, and solid waste
collection; and
WHEREAS in Huntsville these facilities, along with the systems and operations vital to our community’s well being, are operated and maintained by a dedicated workforce consisting of
employees in the Parks, Public Utilities and Public Works Departments; and
WHEREAS the health, safety, and comfort of Huntsville greatly depends on these facilities and services; and
WHEREAS the quality and effectiveness of these facilities and services, as well as their planning, design, and construction, is vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of these
employees; and
WHEREAS the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff these departments is materially influenced by the peoples’ attitude and understanding of the importance of the
work they perform;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared:
PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
in Huntsville, Texas, and I call upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the issues involved with providing our public services and to recognize the contributions
which public services personnel make every day towards achieving the goals set forth in the City of Huntsville’s Mission and Vision Statements.
