43-ellen-willettPROCLAMATION NO. 2006-43 WHEREAS Ellen Willett began serving the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville’s congregation and the Huntsville/Walker County community over 30 years ago; and WHEREAS She began with the Church as a lay person and is now an ordained deacon in the United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS Ellen was certified in Christian Education in June 1991, Consecrated a Diaconal Minister in June 1994 and ordained Deacon in Full Connection in June 1997, all by the United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS Ellen has been involved with scores of Children’s Programs, Youth Programs, Adult Programs and Older Adult Programs; and WHEREAS 2006 marks the 50th Anniversary of granting the clergy ordination for women in the Methodist Church and they are proudly celebrating this anniversary by honoring one of their own, Rev. Ellen Willett; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: November 12, 2006 be declared: “REV. ELLEN WILLETT DAY“ in the City of Huntsville and urge all residents to join with us to give many thanks for all that Rev. Ellen Willett has done for our community.
