40-entergy PROCLAMATION NO. 2006-40 WHEREAS, nearly 20 percent of the customers served by Entergy Corp. in its four-state Southern Jurisdictions have incomes that fall below the federal guidelines for determining poverty; and WHEREAS, Entergy has determined to become a force for positive action to improve the circumstances and lives of its low-income customers who are also the friends and neighbors to us all; and WHEREAS, Entergy Texas has aggressively sought for ways to partner with social service agencies who have the staff, the skills, and the processes in place to assist the most vulnerable among us; and WHEREAS, Entergy Texas delivered 62 grants to low-income partner agencies in 2005 totaling $158,000, accounting for 32 percent of all Texas grants in that year; and WHEREAS, Entergy Texas has specifically partnered with more than 30 agencies in its Western Division which includes the Huntsville, Conroe, Navasota areas and cities and communities surrounding them; and WHEREAS, Entergy Texas is sponsoring a low-income summit to bring these partners together to provide an opportunity for networking and to provide additional information that may help them in their task of assisting the poor; and NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that OCTOBER 24, 2006 be designated as: ENTERGY TEXAS LOW-INCOME PARTNERSHIP DAY in Huntsville, Texas.
