07-severe weather awareness weekPROCLAMATION 2006- 07
WHEREAS, The week of February 26th through March 4th has been designated as “Severe Weather Awareness Week” in the State of Texas. During this week, all National Weather Service
(NWS) offices serving the Lone Star State will be issuing public information statements on a variety of severe weather topics; and
WHEREAS, At approximately 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1st the Houston/Galveston NWS office will issue a mock tornado warning for all 23 counties in southeast Texas. The warning
will be disseminated through standard communication methods, including the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and NOAA Weather Radio.
WHEREAS, Emergency management plays a vital role in knowing what to do and how to handle situations of severe weather such as tornadoes and hurricanes; and
WHEREAS, Participation in the mock tornado warning will give schools, government agencies, businesses and other interested parties an opportunity to practice their emergency operation
plans for tornadoes; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that

be designated as:
SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK
in Huntsville, Texas.
