19-army-230thPROCLAMATION NO. 2005-19 WHEREAS America’s Army celebrates its 230th birthday on the 14th of June; it is serving a Nation at war and requires all elements of our national power be applied in this broad and unyielding campaign; and WHEREAS This war is being conducted around the globe against determined terrorists and rogue states; they must, nevertheless, be prevented from striking against the United States, our allies, and our interests; and WHEREAS This campaign will not be short; it will require a deep and enduring commitment by all Americans and require our Army to remain fully engaged in fulfilling its responsibilities to national security; and WHEREAS The United States Army has always had a non-negotiable contract with the American people to fight and win the Nation’s wars, our Army is a proud member of the Joint Force expertly serving our nation and its citizens as it continuously strives toward new goals and improved performance; and WHEREAS This nation has the best Army in the world which is now undergoing a dynamic transformation, this Army will continue to be respected by allies, feared by opponents, honored and esteemed by the American people; and WHEREAS Courage, dedication to duty and selfless service to the Nation are the hallmarks of those values American Soldiers carry forward every day; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 2005 be declared: ARMY APPRECIATION DAY in Huntsville, Texas and in recognition of this important event, urge all citizens to appreciate the services of our past and current serving members of the United States Armed Forces.
