27-joe-clementsPROCLAMATION NO. 2004-27 WHEREAS Joe Clements played for Huntsville High School and won the class AA state championship in 1953. He coached at Huntsville High School for 19 years and won the class AAA championship in 1980. His record as a coach in Huntsville was 170 wins, 44 losses, and 3 ties; and   WHEREAS Coach Clements was among the first coaches to be inducted into the Hall of Honor of Greater Houston; and   WHEREAS Huntsville citizen, Joe Clements, has dedicated a lifetime of support and coaching expertise to Huntsville ISD and the Huntsville community; and   WHEREAS His amazing record, not only as a player for the Huntsville Hornets but also as a coach has brought him two state titles; and   WHEREAS His dedication to the Huntsville Hornet Football Program is unmatched and his notoriety statewide has brought him countless recognitions and awards;   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Huntsville, Texas that: FRIDAY, AUGUST 27, 2004 be declared: “JOE CLEMENTS DAY“ in the City of Huntsville, and join the Council in saluting Coach Clements for his tremendous coaching record that boasts 170 wins in 19 years as coach and athletic director for Huntsville ISD, as well as 14 play-off appearances.
