WHEREAS Client Cartwright was born on Friday, May 2, 1902 in Riverside, Texas, where he grew up and went to school. He married at the age of 18 and is the father of Freddie and Josephine;
and
WHEREAS In 1937 Mr. Cartwright purchased half an acre of land for $25 in the Old Colony Community and built a home there., where he has lived for the past 67 years and has seen the streets
get paved and named; and
WHEREAS Mr. Cartwright loves to walk, eat good food such as turnip greens, baked chicken, yams, cornbread and lemon pound cake, and listen to his favorite song, “Oh When the Saints
Go Marching In.” Since the early 1940’s, he has served as Deacon at the Eastside Church of God in Christ and his favorite scripture is Matthew Chapter 24; and
WHEREAS Mr. Cartwright is the patriarch of six generations: two children, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, thirty-seven great-great-grandchildren, nine great-great-great-grandchildren
, and nine great-great-great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS When asked what he is doing to live so long, Mr. Cartwright answers, “Children, I believe if you love everybody and treat them right, then depend on God for everything. You
must have faith and believe that God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. Then you can’t go wrong”;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:

be declared:
"CLIENT CARTWRIGHT DAY"
in Huntsville, Texas.
