WHEREAS the month of March is designated as “Texas History Month’ by HB294; and
WHEREAS the Daughters of the Republic of Texas lead in remembering the contributions of these gallant men and women who settled this great State; and
WHEREAS for over 450 years of written history people of all races and cultures have united in the pride of being Texans; and
WHEREAS because of the many major historical events that happened during the month of March, we as citizens must never forget the sacrifices and contributions made by these courageous
early settlers; and
WHEREAS the Daughters of the Republic of Texas remind us of the need to commemorate the noble and heroic deeds of these early men and women;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville that
March 2004
be proclaimed
“TEXAS HISTORY MONTH”
