05-willie-rossPROCLAMATION 2004-05 WHEREAS Willie D. Ross began employment with the City of Huntsville on January 17, 1972 as the City’s first Animal Control Officer; and WHEREAS Willie has served under five Mayors, four City Managers and eight Supervisors; and WHEREAS Willie has always been professional, caring, friendly and extremely humane as he served the citizens of this City; and WHEREAS Willie has captured over 21,000 dogs and over 8,000 possums; has picked up over 9,000 cats and an unspecified number of raccoons, squirrels, goats, pigs, horses, cows, but NOT very many snakes; and WHEREAS Willie’s philosophy on making it in life is “to pray a lot, be good to people and serve the Lord”; and WHEREAS Willie will retire on February 29, 2004, as the City’s First Animal Control Officer; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville that February 17, 2004 be proclaimed “WILLIE D. ROSS DAY” in the City of Huntsville. I urge all citizens to join in recognizing the dedication and hard work of Willie during his 32 years with the City of Huntsville.
