WHEREAS Samuel P. “Sam” Golden, a native of Wharton, Texas attended North Texas State University and received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Banking and Finance from
that institution, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University; and
WHEREAS Sam, along with his wife Valerie and three children, Jonathan, Jaclyn, and Janna currently make their home in Sugarland, Texas, from which he commutes to Houston and serves as
Ombudsman for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency; and
WHEREAS During the past twenty-nine years, Sam has served his country in government service joining the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 1974, and rising through the ranks
of that organization, culminating in the selection as Ombudsman, a position that reports directly to the Comptroller of the Currency; and
WHEREAS Sam was a recipient of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s Managerial Excellence Award, and additionally, he has served as a two-time honoree representing the Office
of the Comptroller of the Currency at the Treasury Department’s Annual Award Ceremony; and
WHEREAS For many years, Sam has been a beacon for community service, being a member of the Advisory Board for the Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking at Sam Houston State University,
a director and secretary of the Fort Bend Education Foundation, a director of Prostate Action, Inc., a deacon and trustee in his church; and
WHEREAS The Executive-In-Residence Program was created at Sam Houston State University to enable students to gain a unique perspective from governmental executives and corporate executives;
and
WHEREAS It is a great honor to welcome Samuel P. “Sam” Golden to our community as guest speaker at the College of Business Administration’s Executive-In-Residence Program;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as the Mayor of the City of Huntsville, that

be designated as:
SAMUEL P. GOLDEN DAY
in Huntsville, Texas, and City Council urges the citizens of our community to acknowledge and express appreciation for his willingness to share his vast experiences in government service
with Sam Houston State University students and faculty.
