PROCLAMATION 2003-04
WHEREAS Mildred Maxwell was born in Singleton, Grimes County, Texas, and graduated from Navasota High School in 1944; and
WHEREAS Mildred married Curtis W. Maxwell in 1947 and traveled throughout the world, finally settling down to a career with Sam Houston State University in 1961; and
WHEREAS Mildred transferred to the College of Business Administration in 1972, where she has worked for every existing dean for the College of Business Administration (Dr. Jean Neal,
Dr. Bobby K. Marks, Dr. James E. Gilmore, and Dr. R. Dean Lewis); and
WHEREAS Mildred has memorized everyone’s current campus telephone number as well as all of our previous campus telephone numbers; and
WHEREAS Mildred is known for her expertise in the kitchen and can prepare the finest cakes, cookies, and cornbread dressing in the State of Texas without gaining a pound; and
WHEREAS Mildred, who is forever young, has more energy than most people half her age; and
WHEREAS Mildred, a card carrying member of the Grand Old Party, has been known to dance till dawn at the Governor’s Inaugural Ball; and
WHEREAS Mildred, who is not a vegetarian, can draw down on an 8-point buck with her 30/30; and
WHEREAS Mildred is known to appreciate a fast horse and will now have the time to become a true Kentucky Derby Babe; and
WHEREAS Mildred plans to enjoy her retirement by: Traveling, Gardening, Caring for her pets Bobo and Sissy, Fishing, Relaxing and NOT keeping a regular schedule; and
WHEREAS Mildred has provided 38 years of loyal service to Sam Houston State University and to the College of Business Administration; and
WHEREAS Mildred, during those38 years, has laughed with, labored with and loved all of us in this room;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
