WHEREAS emergencies can occur at anytime that require police, fire, or emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS when an emergency occurs the prompt response of police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical services personnel is critical to the protection and preservation of life
and property; and
WHEREAS the safety of our police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical services personnel is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who
telephone the Walker County Public Safety Communications Center; and
WHEREAS Public Safety Dispatchers are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services; and
WHEREAS Public Safety Dispatchers are the single vital link for our police officers, fire fighters, and emergency medical services personnel by monitoring their activities by radio,
providing them with information and insuring their safety; and
WHEREAS Public Safety Dispatchers of the Walker County Public Safety Communications Center have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and
treatment of patients and insuring their safety; and
WHEREAS each dispatcher has exhibited compassion, understanding and professionalism during their performance of their job in the past year;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as
Mayor of the City of Huntsville, Texas that:
APRIL 14-20, 2002
be declared:
"TELECOMMUNICATIONS WEEK"
in Huntsville, Texas, in honor of the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our City and citizens safe.
