PROCLAMATION NO. 2009-13
WHEREAS Master Sergeant Juan J. Vitela is retiring on April 18, 2009, with more than
twenty-one years of service in the United States Air Force and in the Texas Air
National Guard; and
WHEREAS During his time serving his country as a videographer, Jay truly raised the
standard for Air National Guard video production as demonstrated in a number
of successful and professionally-completed projects; and
WHEREAS Jay’s video on the Texas Air Guard's response to Hurricane Katrina illustrated
their capabilities as a true homeland security force; and
WHEREAS Jay’s video on the 204th Security Forces Squadron in El Paso, Texas highlighted
their achievements in creating a Combat Readiness Training course that equals
the active-duty Air Force's curriculum; and
WHEREAS Jay’s video on the 149th Fighter Wing's Coronet Cactus deployment exercise
solidifies the 149th's reputation as a premier F-16 pilot training program; and
WHEREAS Jay has decided to make his home in our fair community, transitioning his
commitment to service of his country from a more national level to a local level;
WHEREAS The City of Huntsville appreciates and recognizes the personal and family
sacrifice made by those willing to serve our country, and commends those eager
and ready to do so;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED, by the power vested in me as Mayor of the
City of Huntsville, Texas that
April 18, 2009
be declared as :
“Jay Vitela Day”
in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas and hereby congratulate and recognize Jay for his achievements
while serving our community and our country.
