ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Agenda item seeks City Council approval to adopt Ordinance No. 2008 - amending
Schedule VIII, Stop Intersections, of Title 20, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, of the Code of
Ordinances. This amendment will require northbound traffic on Avenue Q to stop at the
intersection at 15th Street.
RESULT to be ACHIEVED:
Amend the traffic schedule to require northbound vehicles on Avenue Q to stop at the
intersection at 15th Street.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, vehicles traveling northbound on Avenue Q are not required to stop at the
intersection of 15t' Street. City staff has received reports that traffic has failed to make the
required right turn and has continued straight through the intersection and damaged
adjacent property. Also, it is a safety concern with westbound traffic along 15th Street that
must make a left turn onto Avenue Q.
As per Section 20.02.02 of the Code of Ordinances, a trial period implementing a 1 -way stop
for northbound vehicles along Avenue Q was installed. There have been no problems noted
or complaints received.
FISCAL IMPACT /FUNDING SOURCE:
Fiscal Impact: none
Funding Source: none
RECOMMENDED MOTION:
I recommend adopting Ordinance No. 2008- amending Schedule VIII, Stop
Intersections, of Title 20, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, of the Code of Ordinances.
