FINANCE COMMITTEE WORK SESSION [4:15 -4:45 p.m.]
The City Council Finance Committee conducted a work session to discuss: budget adjustments; proposed tax rate;
project accounting and required adjustments; and investment of cemetery funds.
WORK SESSION [4:15 -4:45 p.m.]
The City Council conducted a work session to discuss the proposed FY 2004 -05 budget including the City's self- funded
health insurance plan.
CALL TO ORDER [6:05 p.m.]
Mayor Pro Tem Steed Smith called the regular session to order.
2. Consider and take action on the proposed budget amendments.
Councilmember Tavenner moved to approve the budget adjustments as submitted: and Councilmember
Crawford seconded the motion. The motion passed 8 -0.
3. Consider and take action to appoint Board of Directors Positions One through Three to the City of Huntsville Tax
Increment Reinvestment Zone Number One Board.
Councilmember Kayse moved to table this item until a work session could be scheduled; and Councilmember
Crawford seconded the motion. The motion passed 8 -0.
4. Consider and take action to approve the TIRZ Interlocal Agreement with Walker County.
This item was tabled until Walker County has approved the final document.
5. Discuss legal matters associated with the Public Safety Department.
Deliberation of this item was held in closed session under Texas Government Code Chapter 551, Section
551.071 — consultation with counsel on legal matters.
MAYOR I COUNCILMEMBER I CITY MANAGER REPORT
1. Councilmember Kayse gave a brief report on the Communications Committee plans for communicating the City's work
to the citizens, namely via an "FYI" included with the monthly water bills and a quarterly newspaper -type communication
in the local newspaper. It was suggested that a press release on the proposed tax rate be published.
2. Councilmember Crawford gave a brief report on his recent trip to Washington forthe Blacks in Government Conference.
3. Mayor Pro Tern Smith reported on reading a proclamation in honor of Kevin Saunders.
4. Councilmember Kayse reported briefly on a fire truck demonstration.
