This complimentary program promotes emergent reading skills for young children. Story Hour includes stories, songs, dance and finger plays and concludes with nd “Tadpole Tales” a craft activity. The Huntsville Public Library will host the Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program sponsored by the Huntsville Pets Helping People group on Monday April 21st from 4:00-5:30 PM afternoon, . The R.E.A.D program improves children’s reading skills by employing a powerful method, reading to a registered therapy dog, in a rd relaxed, safe, non-judgmental environment. This program will continue every 3 Monday of the month. Registration is recommended. This relatively new holiday sweeping across the nation is a day to honor two of our community’s greatest resources: children and books. Inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia de los Ninos, this festival welcomes all children and families and seeks to expand cultural boundaries within communities and literature. Sponsored by the Huntsville Public Library Friends, this program is free and open to all ages. A special literacy based performance will energize the audience and free books will be distributed to all children in attendance.
