Press Release - 3/7/2014- Special TxDOT issue
The City of Huntsville, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, has released a
publication outlining the ongoing construction at the Interstate 45/State Highway 75 interchange.
Readers will learn more about each phase of the project – which is currently scheduled for completion in
2015 – as well as the detours that may become necessary for drivers at various points in the project.
The publication, a special issue of the City’s digital newsletter entitled “This Week in Huntsville,” is
available on the City’s Web site, www.huntsvilletx.gov, and will remain posted throughout the project.
“This newsletter was designed with Huntsville area residents and drivers in mind,” said Kristin Edwards,
Deputy City Secretary. “We sincerely hope our citizens will take the time to read through each of the five
phases and continue to utilize the publication throughout the construction project. We do plan to
update the publication as necessary per direction from TxDOT in order to keep it as current as possible.”
The five phases of the construction project each involve construction in different segments of the
interchange. Currently, TxDOT is working on a connector road from the Interstate 45 northbound feeder
road to State Highway 75, as well as a new southbound exit 118 ramp.
“The work being completed at the Interstate 45/State Highway 75 interchange is expected to
dramatically improve area traffic conditions,” TxDOT Public Information Officer Bob Colwell said. “We
appreciate your patience as we complete this large-scale effort, and as always, we encourage citizens to
contact us with any questions during the construction project.”
The City of Huntsville would especially like to thank David Stephens, Area Engineer, and James Robbins,
Transportation Engineer, for their invaluable contributions to the special issue.
