PRESS RELEASE
During the past week, officers with the Huntsville Police Department have
arrested two individuals who are believed to be responsible for more than a
dozen commercial and vehicle burglaries.
According to HPD Lieutenant Curt Landrum, department personnel have
recently managed several investigations involving Burglaries of Buildings and
Burglaries of Vehicles, and have identified these individuals as the persons
responsible for five commercial burglaries and approximately 10 vehicle
burglaries.
The charges against the individuals range from Misdemeanor A offenses, which
may result in up to a year in jail and/or the assessment of a $2,000 fine, to
State Jail Felonies, in which the individuals could be punished by a sentence of
180 days to two years in a state jail facility along with a fine of up to $10,000.
"On January 20, officers arrested Devin D. Mills (DOB 07/06/91 ) on a charge
of Credit Card Abuse as well as two misdemeanor warrants," Landrum said.
"The credit card abuse charge resulted from his use of a credit card stolen in a
burglary.
"As well, on January 28, officers arrested Cory D. Archie (DOB 09/29/93) on
several charges including Fail to Identify, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest,
Burglary of a Building and a Probation Violation warrant."
Investigations continue as it is believed these subjects may be responsible for
additional offenses and may not have acted alone when committing their
offenses
"We are anticipating the possibility of additional arrests in the future," Landrum
said. "Citizens with any information pertaining to these crimes are encouraged
to contact the department."
HPD Chief Kevin Lunsford praised the efforts of the department to apprehend
the individuals involved in the crimes.
"These arrests resulted from the hard work and cooperation of officers within
the Patrol Division and detectives within the Criminal Investigations Division of
the police department," Lunsford said. "I am very proud to once again see
various elements of this department effectively working together to put an end
to a series of crimes."
