Deputy City Secretary
The Houston Astros are coming to Huntsville on January 22 as part of their 2014 Astros Caravan, and while in town, the
representatives will participate in a special flag raising ceremony at Kate Barr Ross Park.
According to City Secretary Lee Woodward, the group is scheduled to arrive at 3:45 p.m. and will include two current
players, one team alumni, a broadcaster, and a member of the Astros front office.
“The City of Huntsville is so excited to have representatives of the Astros franchise come for a visit,” Woodward said.
“During the event, Mayor Mac Woodward will raise an Astros flag, making Huntsville an official part of ‘Astros Country!’
“The Astros were kind enough to accommodate a later start time in the afternoon so that local kids will be out of school
and able to attend, so we are hoping for a great turnout!”
The ceremony will be followed by a brief media session.
