Proclamation No2022-20 FBC Grandparent Day
City of Huntsville
Proclamation No. 2022-20
WHEREAS, in 1978 President Carter by proclamation, designated the first Sunday after Labor Day as National Grandparents Day. In the words of President Carter, “as we seek to strengthen
the enduring values of the family, it is appropriate that we honor our grandparents”. We thank these role models for their immeasurable acts of love, care, and understanding; and
WHEREAS, we understand and acknowledge the indelible role that matriarchs and patriarchs serve in our churches, homes, families, and communities. They ensure the stories and traditions
of our heritage are passed down through generations; and
WHEREAS, Grandparents witness great milestones in the lives of their children and grandchildren. As many of us, of a certain age can remember our grandmothers and grandfathers who sat
in the same seat at church every Sunday and issued out discipline and peppermints, to random children, without reservation; and
WHEREAS, through decades of hard work and sacrifice, our grandparents have enabled many of the rights and opportunities we have today. As we celebrate Grandparents Day, may we never
forget the sacrifices, teachings, and kindness of our elders. Our grandparents have made us who we are; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Andy Brauninger, Mayor of Huntsville Texas, do hereby deem it an honor and a pleasure to Proclaim,
September 11, 2022, as
NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY
