Jim Barnes said. “When the officers arrived on the scene of the accident, Officer Janis proceeded to exit his patrol car and head toward the disabled vehicle, which had struck the guard rail in the center median. “Another vehicle traveling southbound appears to have lost control on the wet roadway and struck the patrol car from behind. The patrol car lurched forward striking Officer Janis. “Huntsville/Walker County EMS quickly responded to the scene and transported Officer Janis to Huntsville Memorial Hospital.” The Texas Department of Public Safety responded and is investigating the accident. 1 “I want to thank the emergency medical personal for their quick response and attention to Officer Janis,” HPD Chief Kevin Lunsford said. “We are very grateful for their assistance and role in bringing a member of our departmental family out of harm’s way.” Media Inquiries: Lt.
