Consider Avenue 01/2 sewer Service Options
Gene Pipes, City Manager, recommended to the Council that the City diligently pursue code enforcerent
regarding the adequacy of the sewer system on Avenue 0 1/7 servicing rental units there. he noted the t(e.)
sewer alternatives the staff has developed would not be economically feasible. however, should the Council
like to consider new sewer construction, he would recodoend reolacing the gravity server System in 7th Street and
then paralleling Town Branch to service the property with a gravity system. he noted this would cost an
estimated 549,296. It was noted to; that if the owner of the property wishe7. to exten1 the sewer line, t-- City
would participate in one-half of tne cost of the first 300 feet, A; provided under the utility extension
ance. The Council noted this is not the only area of code violations in that area and that other areas c,'" the
building and electrical codes, etc., are perhoos in violation. Couohildodther flooday made the notion to ole
this matter until staff can stud/ ;cider areas of cody violate a; e11 dod code 1. 3, to the Jo:: 11 a
