The Fold3 name comes from “a traditional flag folding ceremony in which the third fold is made in honor and remembrance of veterans who served in defense of their country and to maintain peace throughout the world.” Fold3 Library Edition by Ancestry provides convenient access to US military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served.  This continually-growing collection contains millions of records from world-class archives, many of which are exclusively available on Fold3, according to the Fold3 website. Documents have been compiled from many resources including: National Archives & Records Administration (NARA) Allen County Public Library Harris County Archives Cuyahoga County Archives South Carolina Archives Pennsylvania Archives FamilySearch Archives Center for Research Libraries Contents from Fold3 “provide extensive records from the Revolutionary War onward. Fold3 Library Edition is an invaluable research resource for historians, genealogists, researchers, military enthusiasts, veterans and their families, teachers, and battle reenactors.” Please contact the Huntsville Public Library for assistance and access to Fold3. Researchers will want to spend time learning how to navigate the Fold3 databases. Fold3 has provided excellent tutorials. Researchers need only to go to the homepage and click on HELP and begin their search of military history.  For more information, contact Richard Lane at 936-291-5472 or RLane@HuntsvilleTX.gov. The City of Huntsville Information Technology Department implemented a continuing education program to train employees. IT Director Bill Wavra reports that all necessary employees are certified per HB 3834 requirements.  "With the increase in cyber attacks in the news, councilmembers inquired about what IT is doing to minimize threats. This program is one of several measures Swearing in, Saying "Thank You" Cyber-security being addressed taken to prevent, mitigate and recover from a potential cyber attack," Wavra said. "The most important step is security awareness. Our team is in regular contact with staff, reminding users how to identify potential threats and advising them to contact us if they receive any suspicious emails or calls." He added that when a threat is positively identified, IT will email the city of the danger and how to identify it. "No single approach is perfect, but we can help keep our City safer and its employees productive with each additional security measure."
