AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS DESIGNATING FLOOD
HAZARD AREAS INCLUDING A FLOOD PLAIN AND FLOODWAY;
PROHIBITING DEVELOPMENT WITHIN SUCH FLOOD HAZARD
AREAS; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF $200; AND PROVIDING
FOR THE PUBLICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the Federal Insurance Administration has determined the base flood
elevation in the City of Huntsville; and
WHEREAS, the City's continued eligibility in the National Flood Insurance
Program requires that the City update its flood plain management
regulations in accordance with those findings;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS that:
Section 1: The Floodway - Flood Boundary and Floodway Map prepared for the
City of Huntsville, Walker County, Texas, by the Federal Insurance
Administration to be effective February 4, 1981, and attached hereto
as Exhibit "A ", is hereby adopted. Copies of said map shall be kept
in the Offices of the City Secretary and the City Engineer.
Section 2: Chapter Six of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Huntsville,
Texas, is hereby amended by the repeal of Section 6 -3, Flood Plain
Regulations, as presently constituted, and by the adoption of a new
Article II, Flood Hazard Area Regulation, sections 6 -10 et seq. that
shall read as follows:

Section 3: Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be
punished by a fine of not more than two hundred ($200.00) dollars, and
each violation shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with the terms
of this ordinance shall constitute a separate offense.
Section 5: This Ordinance shall take effect from and after ten (10) days
after its passage by the City Council. The City Secretary is hereby
directed to give notice thereof by causing the caption of this ordinance
to be published in the official newspaper of the City of Huntsville at
least twice within ten days after the passage of this ordinance.
