AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY
LIMITS OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY THAT LIES ADJACENT TO AND
ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE;
AND MAKING OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED THERETO.
WHEREAS, pursuant Ordinance No. 80 -39, a Public Hearing before the City
Council of the City of Huntsville, Texas, where all interested persons
were provided with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation
of the following described property, to -wit:

BEGINNING at the point' of intersection of the Northerly right -of -way of
State Highway 30 and the existing city limit line, as established in an
annexation dated March 11, 1969, as recorded in Volume 219, Page 627,
Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Northwesterly along said existing city limit line to a point of
intersection with a south line of the Pleasant Gray Survey, A -24;
THENCE Westerly with said south line of the Pleasant Gray Survey, A -24,
to the Northwest corner of the James B. Hall property (approximately 27
acres) as recorded in Volume 170, Page .131, Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southerly along said Hall property's west line to its intersection
with the North right -of -way line of State Highway 30;
THENCE Southerly across State Highway 30 to the Northwest corner of the
Helen Oliphant Spencer property (approximately 329 acres) as recorded in
Volume 169, Pages 320, 324, Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southwesterly along the West line of the North 132 acres of said
Spencer property to a point of intersection with the South line of the
North 132 acres of said Spencer property;
THENCE Easterly along said South line to a point of intersection with the
West line of the W. Thompson Estate, as last recorded in Volume 137, Page
397,. Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southerly, Easterly, Southwesterly and Southeasterly along said West
line of W. Thompson Estate;
THENCE Northeasterly along the Southerly line of said W. Thompson Estate to
a point of intersection with the Westernmost point of the Sam Houston State
University property, as recorded in Volume 50, Page 145, Walker County Deed
Records;
THENCE Southeasterly and easterly along the South line of said Sam Houston
State University property to a point of intersection with the East line of
said Sam Houston State University property;
THENCE Northeasterly along said East line to its intersection with the ex-
isting city limit line as established in the March 11, 1969 annexation;
THENCE Northwesterly along said City limit line to the Point of Beginning.
was held at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the City Hall of
the City of Huntsville, Texas, on the 30th day of September, 1980, which
date is not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to
the first consideration of this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in the Huntsville Item,
a paper having general circulation in the City of Huntsville, Texas, and
Walker County, Texas, on the 18th day of September, 1980, which date was
not more than twenty (20) nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date
of such public hearing; and
WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of Huntsville, Texas, on the 1st
day of January, 1980, was 7738_7 acres; and
WHEREAS, the above described property lies within the extraterritorial juris-
diction of the City of Huntsville, Texas; and

of Huntsville, Texas,
NOW, THEREFORE, •

BE,IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS:
Section 1: That the following described land and territory lying adjacent to
and adjoining the City of Huntsville, Texas, is hereby added and annexed
to the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the said territory hereinafter
described shall hereafter be included within the boundary limits of the
City of Huntsville, Texas, and the present boundary limits of the City,
at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described, are
altered and amended so as to include said area within the corporate limits
of the City of Huntsville, Texas, to -wit:
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the Northerly right -of -way of
State Highway 30 and the existing city limit line, as established in an
annexation dated March 11, 1969, as recorded in Volume 219, Page 627,
Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Northwesterly along said existing city limit line to a point of
intersection with a south line of the Pleasant Gray Survey, A -24;
THENCE Westerly with said south line of the Pleasant Gray Survey, A -24,
to the Northwest corner of the James B. Hall property (approximately 27
acres) as recorded in Volume 170, Page 131, Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southerly along said Hall property's west line to its intersection
with the North right -of -way line of State Highway 30;
THENCE Southerly across State Highway 30 to the Northwest corner of the
Helen Oliphant Spencer property (approximately 329 acres) as recorded in
Volume 169, Pages 320, 324, Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southwesterly along the West line of the North 132 acres of said
Spencer property to a point of intersection with the South line of the
North 132 acres of said Spencer property;
THENCE Easterly along said South line to a point of intersection with the
West line of the W. Thompson Estate, as last recorded in Volume 137, Page
397, Walker County Deed Records;
THENCE Southerly, Easterly, Southwesterly and Southeasterly along said West
line of W. Thompson Estate;
THENCE Northeasterly along the Southerly line of said W. Thompson Estate to
a point of intersection with the Westernmost point of the Sam Houston State
University property, as recorded in Volume 50, Page 145, Walker County Deed
Records;
THENCE Southeasterly and easterly along the South line of said Sam Houston
State University property to a point of intersection with the East line of
said Sam Houston State University property;
THENCE Northeasterly along said East line to its intersection with the ex-
isting city limit line as established in the March 11, 1969 annexation;
THENCE Northwesterly along said City limit line to the Point of Beginning.
Section 2: The above described territory and the area so annexed shall be
a part of the City of Huntsville, Texas, and the property so added shall
bear its pro rata part of the taxes levied by the City of Huntsville,
Texas, and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all of the rights
and privileges of all of the citizens of Huntsville and shall be bound
by the acts, ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the City of
Huntsville, Texas.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
